Yep, that’s right, we’re back and we’re back with out first female Fap Friday!

I had to make it someone cute and totally fappable, so for me, Jenna Marbles ticks all my girl-crush boxes. Pun unintended.

Besides our gorgeous friend Ace, I usually don’t pay attention to many Vloggers out there. Sure, when I want to oogle some awesome makeup looks I have my own Vloggers I like peeking at or when I want some giggles I go look up cats, bad lip-reading, Olan Rogers or Kingsley.

However, Jenna Marbles reminds me of a hot, American version of myself. She isn’t afraid to act like a dork, she’s smart, hilarious as get-out and comes up with some great topics in her videos. I really can’t say enough about her because I freakin’ love her and her ridiculously bangin’ body.

I also know if I keep talking about her, I’m just going to end up in the fetal position whining about how perfect her fricken hair and shirts are, so I’m going to direct you to some of my favourite videos by her. Mmm scrumptious! I love a good Irish man post and I think we’re long overdue for one. This stupidly, annoyingly gorgeous man is currently playing one half of the Beauty Brigade Dwarf Team in The Hobbit, but you might know him as Mitchell in the original (and sorry, the best aka UK) version of Being Human.

He’s known for his puppy-dog looks, his incredibly contagious smile that you’re pretty sure gets him anything he wants. If he wants a beef sandwich from McDonald’s, you bet your ass he’s getting one.

Also, arms. There’s no point in me pointing them out other than arms.

It’s a hot end to the week here in Oz, we need need to start cooling down and not completely fainting over some Aidan goodness!

Review: Korres Volumising/Strengthening Mascara with Abyssinia Oil

I’ve wanted a new mascara for a while now. I have a clear one and three black mascaras; one being Revlon CustomEyes and the other two being on my favourite mascaras list, Too Faced Lash Injectionand Benefit They’re Real.
As I was getting to the end of my Lash Injection and the CustomEyes were making my eyes quite sensitive, I thought it was time to try out another mascara. I wanted something that gave me length and volume that both mascaras bring, without Lash Injection’s flaking issue and CustomEyes’ sensitivity problem.

Along comes Korres.

I haven’t tried much from the Korres brand, but since I loved their pomegranate Lip Butter, I thought that their mascara (in black) would give my lashes the conditioning and gentle touch I want.

The Ingredients

Below are some of the ingredients in the mascara and what exactly they are-

Sorbitan Olivate- olive oil (it’s Greek, duh!).
Carnauba and Rice Bran Wax.
Stearic Acid- can be from animals, however since Korres is cruelty-free, this would be derived from cocoa or shea butter.
Glycerine
Hydroxethylcellulose- a thickening agent from cellulose (derived from plants).
Sorbitol- sugar alcohol (sweetener, which the body metabolises slowly).
Benzyl Alcohol- a colourless organic compound produced in plants and fruits.
Capric Triglyceride- coconut oil.
Abyssinian seed oil- the star ingredient. Even though it isn’t high up on the ingredients list, you really don’t need much to see it work. Like all oils it helps eliminate caking (in this case, clumpy product) and great at moisturising- something we tend to overlook when it comes to mascaras. Apparently it also disperses pigments well and softens hair (again in this case, it shouldn’t make your lashes stiff, but leave them soft to the touch). You can read a bit more about the oil here.

The Brush

This brush is a lot smaller and narrower than other brushes I have used. However this proved a very good thing as I could get closer to my lash line to tease from the base and slowly move up the lash shaft. The bristles are quite short and even in size, so I was worried that I would have clumping issues, however I was surprised that I didn’t have any clumps or hiccups; instead it was beautiful fluid, even colour (but we’ll get to that a bit more later).

Lash Injection, Korres and CustomEyes.

Here you can see the size difference I was talking about just before. Coming from a thick, big brush like Lash Injection to this one as well as a really long handle compared to CustomEyes is a big difference, however because the bristles are smaller and lighter, I didn’t find any problem with handling and applying (this is starting to sound like a segment from Top Gear, isn’t it?

The Look

One coat of Korres mascara.

Silly me, I forgot to take a picture of my lashes before applying! My lashes are quite long naturally but are quite light so I tend to go towards black mascaras because I love the look. The Korres mascara gives great colour and -like I said before- great smoothness to the look of the lashes (Note: It might look like clumpy mascara on the ends of some of my lashes but that’s where I have a slight ‘kink’ in my lashes from when they’re against glasses and things.. told you they were long!).

I usually don’t put more than one coat of mascara on, maybe two at the most because I cannot stand clumpy, spider-leg eyelashes and the dry, stiff feeling mascaras usually give; however this mascara is so smooth and soft that I didn’t mind putting on more than one coat.
It gives great colour and definition, so now I wanted to see if it had any volumising power…

Two coats.

As you can see, adding another coat does increase thickness and overall “dramatic volume” to your lashes. Because I was interrupted and didn’t apply it all at the same time, it did start clumping in little areas, but because of the oils in it, it was easy to comb them out.

The Feel & Wear

Thanks to the oils, this feels really nice and looks nice in photos. The only problem I have with this mascara is that because of the oils, it stays wet longer, making it smudge easily. Even when I think it’s dry and I scratch close to my lashes, it smudges my makeup - which is one of the biggest complaints about this mascara.
As I am from a warmer climate, I did find if I put just a bit too much on the bottom lashes that they started to transfer onto my skin- always a lovely spotty look.

The Verdict

This would have been one of my favourite mascaras easily if it wasn’t so wet and had the smudging problem. It glides on so easily and looks so good on the lashes that I do continue wearing it because I love the fact that it’s so gentle and also because I really want to overlook the smudging issue.

Would I re/purchase?

I only got this off Ebay so I didn’t pay the $38US for it which is good because I wouldn’t have been a happy-chappy. At this point in time I have to say no, I wouldn’t repurchase it again.

L2L Voters Choice 2012: Tom Hiddleston!

Dashing, debonaire, articulate with an angelic voice, he is a real-life Disney prince who is better than Mary Poppins; absolutely perfect in every way. It’s no surprise that both of our Voters Choices of 2012 are two English men that have played villains in this year’s most popular movies; however there seemed to be one that stole everyone’s heart the most, Tom Hiddleston.

He was our L2L Guy in June then your requested Fap Friday in July and, hungry like the wolves, you guys still wanted more. Hey, I’m not complaining- I love the guy to the point I’m sure it pisses off Maevre!

But really, what’s not to love? He is the most genuine movie fanboy that’s actually making movies, he is very patient and sweet to his fans. Tom has the acting ability to play a complicated demi-god as well as a complicated former RAF pilot to an adorkable but naive boy-next-door, a Captain, a writing king to an actual King - and that’s just what he’s done so far. Imagine what will happen when he completes world domination (and trust me, it’s pretty much complete)?

To fans he is the ultimate man. Even though some have gone all Justin-‘Bliebers’-crazy with hacking his private social networking accounts and some other horrid stuff that is embarrassing to his true fans, the ones that really do love him support him in every way they can, including raising money for charity.

We asked you guys what you loved about this man in shining armour and this is just some of the votes posted in-

L2L Voters Choice 2012: Tom Hardy!

What a year 2012 has been! With only a few weeks left until we ring in 2013 and a year of what is hopefully fun and awesome movies, music and festivities. I hope this year treated you well and if it hasn’t, I hope the new year does!

Two things - or people, rather- that definitely left an impression on you are two gorgeous English actors with charming demeanors, incredible talent and impeccable style.

Your first 2012 L2l guy for this year is Tom-fricken-Hardy.

We’ve had him before as our Fap Friday masterpiece back in July and he sure has left a lasting impression on everyone with being the Man that broke the Bat’s back this year in The Dark Knight Rises and then going a different route with Shia LeBouf in Lawless.

It’s safe to say you’ve seen him in The Dark Knight Rises and Inception, however the man is so incredibly talented, you have to see Stuart: A Life Backwards and Bronson to get the full effect and range of this man. I can’t begin to say how brilliant he is.

Of course he’s also sight to see.

With piercing eyes, full lips and with the capability to carrying off a beard, I’m completely surprised he hasn’t been People’s Sexiest Man Alive, however if it’s his acting chops that are getting people in the movie seats, we know fellow fans are happy about that too.

Speaking of you guys, the fans, we asked you what you loved about this man and here is some of your responses-

Tom Hardy - because I love his not-perfect teeth and the fact he hasn’t fixed them. He’s perfect.

Even though it’s hard to choose, I’m going for Tom Hardy. After seeing DKR and This Means War I went to watch Stuart [A] Life Backwards then before I knew it, I had watched nearly his whole filmography! He is so talented!

Tom Hardy! I met him after the premiere of Tinkle Tailor and he was so nice to everyone there! He signed everything that was given to him and made sure a few of us had photographs done. Such a gentleman!

I’m going for Tom Hardy for now! I think he is one of the funniest and nicest people to his fans. He’s been honest about his past and hasn’t changed in the least.

The 7 Most F*cked Up Trends Of 2012

Another year has gone pas t. Another year of awesome styles and prints in clothing, shoes and accessories, makeup and hair. Sadly there’s the other side of everything ‘fashionable’ and ‘trendy’; the crappy and overrated side of it all and we’re about to show you our top ones.

Wet Hair

Let me get this straight; the faux pas we were always told by magazines since the beginning that leaving the house with wet hair was “soo not hot” is now in fashion? Give me a fricken break! Like the photo above shows, it looks like a greasy mess. Those grunge kids you thought were dirty kids? Well they have it over you anyway.

Suiting factor: 1. I give it one point because I have seen some blondes or raven-haired men and women with polished ‘dos get away with the wet look, however it’s hard to pull off and looks stupid.

Puffa Jackets

I’ve lived through two Canadian winters, I know an almost full-length puffa jacket is a necessity. However if it isn’t a life-and-death situation, you might as well spray paint it silver and send yourself back to the bad end of the 90s.

Suitability: 3. Jazzing them up or having a brighter can put a massive spring in your step when it’s dreary outside, however if the weather doesn’t call for it, leave it at home for your pet to sleep on.

Colour Block

Overused. Overdone. Overrated. It’s just too much for such a big area like the body. It does look amazing when used for the lips, jewellery, bags or shoes, like below.

Using it in small amounts can get you used to the strong colours and matching/complimenting them. With one bright colour, say a bright teal heel with a white shirt and darker pants, in can really look stunning.

Suitability: 5. In small amounts it can look amazing, keeping you always experimenting for any season you’re in, however it’s really hard to pull off and can look easily over-the-top.

Head-To-Toe Prints

Do I have to explain? It seems like something that we’ll remember sounding good at the time but was actually a mess. This would be it.
Depending on the print it can look very ‘together’ or like you should be on the floor replacing a rug.

Suitability: 1. Just really tricky if it isn’t a dress or a well-contructed jumpsuit.

Updo Bun Of Housecleaning

SERIOUSLY? STILL? We touched on this last year and it’s still hanging around like a crazy cat lady outside the animal shelter. A does her hair like this most of the time and loves it, I hate it. Pfft, sisters.

Suitability: 2. Overrated. Stupid. I don’t want to talk about it anymore.

Whatever This Shit Is AKA Psychadelic Print

My eyes hurt.

Suitability: 0.

Head-To-Toe Velvet

Okay I will give this trend some kudos because it looks damn comfy and the first colour looks gorgeous while the second jumpsuit looks really nice. I actually have a moss-coloured ruffled pirate-style trench that I can a lot of compliments about! However having this as a suit can look really off and the cut for any piece of clothing can be really tricky. Relaxed clothing can look shapeless and take on the ’90s velvet babydoll dress’ look.

Suitability: 5. It can looks cozy and comfy but super tricky in the real world.
