Liiipsticks, liiipsticks, lipglosses. Out of all the makeup I could have, I would be completely content with one lipstick; and it’s colour would be red.
I wasn’t much of a makeup/dress up girl when I was younger, but I always loved smacking on a brown, red or even purple lipstick (I was ten, I loved it). Now that I’m older I find that I usually do one thing when leaving the house or put on when I’m at home and want to feel better- and that’s a red lipstick.

So in the spirit of Gwen Stefani being our L2L Girl and my love for lipsticks, I’m going to show you my favourite shades of red for the lips (just handy bit of info- I currently own seven red lipsticks alone.. yeah, yeah, I know).

L’Oreal Infallible Rouge in Ravishing Red 312
$25AUD/$9.99+USD
Guess we better start with the one Gwen is promoting. I don’t care to buy things that celebs advertise, but since this was a nice red and apparently had lasting power, I wanted to give it a go.
Not only is it really lasting, but it’s also moisturising and is a shade that anyone can wear. I bought mine in the US where it’s dirt cheap, but here in Oz it’s an inflated $25+, so will I buy another one here? Maybe. Is it a great lipstick? Absolutely.

Origins Flower Fusion lipstick in Poppy
$16.50USD
I’ve already expressed my love for Origins Flower Fusion lipsticks but this is a great time to bring them up again. These lipsticks are so underrated, but are just so nice and smooth, hydrating and made from flower waxes and natural ingredients. The colour itself is darker red than what the promo picture above shows, so with my best efforts, here’s a swatch for you!

I also want to mention the other red tones in the FF collection; Dahlia, Snapdragon and Amaryllis. All these three are different tones of red but are just so comfortable to wear and great for everyone.

MAC Russian Red
$14.50USD/$35AUD

MAC Ruby Woo
What kind of person would I be if I didn’t mention two of my most used red lipsticks. There are tons upon tons of articles and video already written about what the difference is between them both and which one is better. Honestly, at any given time I’m wearing them both together and they’re equally good for different times, I can’t tell you which one I love more.
But if you want a quick difference indicator between RW and RR, here it is-
RR- creamy, not too-matte but not too-sheen-y, blue-based but comes off neutral on many skin tones
RW- clay-based, blue-toned matte lipstick

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in NSFW
$13USD/$16AUD
I love everything about OC Cosmetics; the name, the design, the fricken colours. Go onto Google and just search OCC Lip Tars, especially NSFW, their ultra-vibrant red and see the amazing lips that come up wearing it. All of OCC Lip Tars are !00% Vegan and contain yummy, good oils to keep your lips happy and hydrated.
They really need to come out with a colour called “It’s Friday and L’s in Love”… just sayin’…

Savvy by DB in Red Berry (not shown above)
$4.95AUD
For my Australian peeps that are sick of paying a bucketload for a nice red! For five buckeroos, you can pick this yummy red up at Priceline (I will change the pic when I finally get a swatch, the Priceline stores near me have sold out)!
The Savvy brand is known as a great little brand that not only does the job, but it also doesn’t stab your wallet with a pitchfork. Their lipglosses are also nice!

Dior Rouge in 999 Ara
$30USD/$42AUD+
Controversial ‘lead’ talk aside.
This is classic. Elegant. Soft. Pretty. It’s totally the red that, to me, makes Dior iconic. No other lipstick can make you this classy, modern and fresh all at the same time. Totally beautiful and very luxury, it feels so beautiful on your lips.

Urban Decay in Gravity
$22USD
For a while I really wanted to try Gash by UD as it always looks good but Gravity is just too good to ignore. It’s a very berry-red, versatile for summer nights but really hot for winter. It’s a very hydrating, long lasting and with the nicest scent. Great for girls with medium to darker skin tones but if you’re a fair girl like me that loves the darker tones, go for it!

Medusa’s Makeup lipgloss in Bite Me
$8.00USD
You might remember that we reviewed this a while back. It’s making my awesome list because it has a nice smooth texture, delicious watermelon flavour and gives a really nice red tint to the lips. At $8 via the MM website, a real steal!
